elcome back from the, hopefully,
restful and needed break! I hope that
you truly enjoyed your time with family and the sparkling, white snowfall! Blog A link of our wonderful day
together—celebrating Christmas with worship, Spanish songs, secret Santas,
Adopt-a-Family, and movie with munchies—was emailed over the holidays: http://changfutureleaders.blogspot.com/2015/12/video-and-pictures.html
Bible A new Bible list of
Romans 12 was sent home. Adopt-a
Family Thank you to all our families in the 5th grade for
blessing others with your sacrificial generosity and compassion! This picture shows a Christmas made
tremendously special with our gifts of more-than-words to a family.
Reading The reading logs
are due tomorrow. Only the weekdays of
the weeks we had school will be graded—15 days.
Math lessons 51-53 will
be practiced and due tomorrow. Daily
from Wednesdays through Friday, a lesson will be examined in detail. There is
no test this week, but we will have the 8th one next week.
Language Arts Last month, we
completed all our rough draft poems! The
final poems [“Five Senses,” “Haiku,” “Who-What-When-Where-Why” and Bible (optional)] are due. This week we will write
out our final drafts by simply copying our rough drafts. For Art, we will spend time adding our
illustrations into our poetry book. Mechanics,
Usage, and Grammar (M.U.G.) This week we will review all the
punctuation (i.e. dashes, parentheses, hyphens, colons, semi-colons, quotation
marks, underlining) marks learned.
Spelling This week we are
studying homophones (lesson 13). Vocabulary,
we are finishing up the lesson on “Birds in Tuxedos.” Also, spelling and vocabulary worksheets will
be due Tuesdays and tests will be on Wednesdays (with Wordly Wise—every other week).
In History and Science we are going through our
study guides to get ready for the upcoming tests (Wednesday and next Thursday,
respectively). Also, we are going to
begin an in-class project on a Greek god to begin our new chapter on Ancient
Greece. Lastly, Passport maps were sent
home today.
Feel free to lighten your
binder by filing away in your
accordion folder graded and/or unneeded work!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOU DO!!!
Have a blessed week, Mrs. Chang
