pinosaurus-es and Chuck-e’s, oh my, was today!  Details of our field trip are to come next week.

Bible Ten Commandments given to the people of Israel through the servant, Moses, delineates the two principals—we as Christians are to love God and our neighbor.  Songs are being created based on these principals.

The January Reading Calendar is due next Tuesday. Language Arts/Mechanics, Usage, and Grammar (M.U.G.) Making plurals, rules for abbreviations, and using numbers will be practiced.

W
e have poets in our classroom for Last week, we had the privilege of listening and viewing the presentations of our poets’ books.  What an accomplishment to have completed their own books through executing bite-sized, manageable steps.  Their books were very neat, colorful, illustrated, and dripping with their own personalities.

Reading/Language Arts.  I wish I could include all the poems, but I would need many more pages.  We concluded our poetry unit with readings of poems with drawings in Shel Silverstein’s books: A Light in the Attic and Where the Sidewalk Ends.  We begin reading a new novel: Bud, Not Buddy.

Spelling This week we are studying more homophones (lesson 14).  Vocabulary, we are beginning a new lesson (9) on “The Sky’s the Limit.”

Mechanics, Usage, and Grammar (M.U.G.) Capitalization concerning languages and organizations will be learned, practiced, and reviewed.

Math lessons 57-59 will be practiced and due tomorrow.   Daily from Wednesdays through Friday, a lesson will be examined in detail.

Science  We begin our chapter on “Matter.”  Health Get ready for the quiz.

History We will present our in-class project with a partner on a chosen Greek god.  We will continue reading the chapter on “Ancient Greece.”  Keep studying for the upcoming Passport test.

FIeld trip We are going next Monday to watch the  National Geographic Live! Presentation.  If your child would like to have buy the package of four slices of large pizza, unlimited drinks, and 32 tokens, please bring $10 cash by this Friday.
