What another wonderful week!
We are getting to know each other and having fun each day working towards winning marbles for a party! Seven marbles in the jar...23 more to go!

Lastly, I forgot to mention that McTeacher's night is this Thursday (5 to 7:30 pm) at McDonald's at Sleater-Kinney.  Come and support, for a percentage of the proceeds will come back to be used in the classroom.

Newsletter: May 23rd, 2016

Greetings to CCA 5th Grade!

  •  Ready-set-go! Two full weeks to go!
  •  The Spelling Bee is tomorrow in the afternoon.
  •  Come join us Wednesday morning for chapel: The students are sharing what they learned in a Bible lesson through their skits.
  •  This Thursday is our final Passport test!
  •  Next Tuesday, we are going on our field trip to the Tolmie State Park. If you are interested in joining please let me know.
  •  Volunteers, would you like to give your time for the field day (June 10th)?  Please let me know.

Picnic--Tuesday, May 31

We are finishing out the year strong, so a celebration and some fun in the sun is quite warranted. The plan is to spend our day enjoying God’s nature with a devotion, lunch and treats, organized games, and a water gun fight.



Sign up for an item to pitch in and make our picnic a de-"light."  Please email or let me know via your child what you would like to contribute from the list below. Then, I will place your student's ID number next to the item to reserve it:

1.       Driver for 15-passenger van#1 (and re-fueling after dropping the kids off):

2.       Driver for 15-passenger van#2 (and re-fueling after dropping the kids off):

3.       Picking up (pre-ordered) pizza order from Costco ($2 per slice) OR the purchasing and/or grilling hamburgers ($2 each per order) and hotdogs ($1 each per order). These food items will be paid for in advance so as to not under or over estimate quantities needed and help with costs associated. 

4.       Organizing the picnic dining areas with 6 table cloths and rocks (items) to hold them down:

5.       Veggie tray with dip

6.       Fruit tray

7.       Dessert (i.e. cookies)

8.       Drinks—no sodas (32 Count)

9.       Water bottles (32 Count) SID #6

10.   Supplying napkins and forks (50 count) 

11.   Supplying paper dishes (50 count) SID#3

12.   Supplying  3 five-gallon buckets for water gun fights and 6 big trash bags

13.   2 Bag of chips SID#5

14.   Icebox with ice 

15.   Water bottles or drinks—no sodas (32 Count) SID#12

16.   Salad (i.e. leafy) 

17.   Dessert (i.e. brownies)

18.   2 Bag of pretzels

19.   Icebox with ice

20.   Other (or another griller of hotdog and hamburgers)

Newsletter: May 16th, 2016



Greetings to CCA 5th Grade!

  • Ready-set-go! Three weeks to go!
  • The students demonstrated their abilities to accomplish a long-term project in bite-sizes and summit such a feat one-step-at-a-time.  I could not be prouder of our 5th grade students!
  • This Wednesday, we embark on the Museum of Glass/Chuck-E-Cheese field trip.  Monies are due tomorrow to pay for three slices of pizza, tokens ($14-worth), and unlimited drink for $7.  If you would like only the tokens and drink, the amount due is $6.  No amount is due; bring a sack lunch.
  • Volunteers, would you like to give your time for the field day (June 10th)?  Please let me know.

Greetings to CCA 5th Grade!

  • Ready-set-go! Four weeks to go!
  • Come Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. to our CCA STEM Fair. Students are encouraged come and answer questions about their innovation.  Goodie bags will be given to each who come!
  • Next Wednesday, we embark on the Museum of Glass/Chuck-E-Cheese field trip.  Bring a sack lunch or pay $7 for three slices of pizza, tokens ($14-worth), and unlimited drink.
  • Gain hours for volunteering time for the field day (June 10th).  If you are interested, please email me or the office.

Greetings to CCA 5th Grade!


  • Progress reports go home in Monday Folders.
  • This is our final week for our STEM Fair projects: tri-board and mini-models are left! 
  • We actively engaged ourselves with the gizmos and gadgets in the Pacific Science Center.  Thank you to all the chaperones for making the trip safe and memorable.
  • The raffle for the planners is a hot topic. Keep getting those facts signed for a chance to win a Kindle Fire. 
  • Mother’s Day Breakfast is coming this Friday.
  • Spelling bee in-class competition is coming soon—May 17.
