Family Wish List:  Thank  you to the families who have contributed and have expressed an interest in sharing a gift to bless a family for Christmas.  Continue to pray for our class family.  I continue to add names to our class list in our room.  Please bring gifts in by Friday for our Christmas party.

Homework daily:
20 minutes: Read chapter book and record in log (due first Tuesday of each month)
10 minutes: Math Lesson Problem Set (See schedule below)
10 minutes: Worldly Wise Lesson—review definitions and work on sections
 5 minutes: Spelling Activity Worksheet and write the words in cursive to prepare for the test
 5 minutes: Write the Bible memory verse in cursive (see below) to help for testing—due Friday

What we are learning…
Chapel/Bible Our skits were such a success!  What a blessing to be able to share our love and need for Christ through drama!  They truly worked so hard and showed their skill and maturity through it all!
Reading The Tales of Despereaux is continued to be read in class.  A short comprehension quiz over the chapter(s) read is (are) given daily. The reading log will not be due until next month so keep reading!
Geography/Writing Project Everyone has been doing a great job!  We will continue writing the essay (rough draft).  Keep referring to your textbook and checklist for answering the questions.  Passport is for a grade, so study well!
Science We will have the chapter test this week on “Matter.”

What we are learning…
Chapel/Bible Please come and watch our wonderful skits for tomorrow about the meaning of Christmas.
Reading As we read with audiobook each chapter a day from The Tales of Despereaux, we also try to find literary devices and techniques used by the author.  The students are able to recognize different types of figures of speech like similes, metaphors, idioms, and personification. 
Geography/Writing Project Everyone has been doing a great job!  This week we are working on the physical map both rough (today) and final (tomorrow) drafts.  We will begin to write the essay (rough draft), which will also be due daily this week a few questions at a time.  Keep referring to your textbook and checklist (that reflects the rubric).  It is a handy resource to use to make your imaginative, yet, realistic world.

November Reading Calendar is due tomorrow.  I hope that you have been reading for your benefit.  Mark Twain claimed, “A person who won’t read has no advantage over one who can’t read. “  So, read, read, read anything and everything that you love and in order to increase your level of vocabulary and understanding.
Geography/Writing Project The rough draft will be worked on, reviewed, edited, and finalized for presentation one step-at-a-time!

Newsletter Nov. 24-26

Operation Christmas Child:  Thank you for bringing in your shoe box.  What a way to share God’s love!
Passport:  The time has come, once again!  Passport is this Wednesday due to the holidays.  I hope you have been studying since it also counts as a geography test for the subject of Old History!
Thanksgiving:  Have a great holiday with your family!  You are a joy and such a gift!  May your quality (and not so much quantity) time shared together be memorable and relaxing.  The holiday kicks off on Wednesday at 12p.m.—a half day.  See your eager minds and bright smiles on Monday!

What we are learning…
Bible The skits were great!  Reviewing the previous first three lessons helps us to reflect on His Word.
Math  As we are making great advancements in the textbook, be sure to use your textbook examples for how to do the work and review the answers to the Math Lesson Problem Sets that we write down in class.
History and Writing Continue to research using the history textbook, internet, library, and don’t forget your imagination in making your realistic country, maps, flag, people and expository essay explaining these.
Worldly Wise will be due each Wednesday.  Sections A-C for the first week and D-E for the following.

Operation Christmas Child and World Vision:  We are still collecting shoe boxes to spread the gift of love and, also, the gospel of Jesus.  Thank you for your continued support for our two children through World Vision.  Each Chapel day (Tuesday), we offer our donations.

First Quarter The first quarter is drawing to an end—tomorrow.  Time is steadily trekking on.
  
Veterans Day:  Come and join our assembling together on November 10 at 2:00 to 2:45 p.m., in honoring our fine men and women who have served and who serve our country.
