T
his week is a short one. Early release is on Wednesday and no school Thursday and Friday. Dismissal is at noon, and students may be picked up or have lunch and wait in Extended Care until pick-up.  We will continue getting our skits ready in Bible to share our faith in action for the lost through Operation Christmas Child.

Last week, we enjoyed learning about igneous rocks in Science of where they are retrieved and their uses.  History class was fun with quizzing about the basics of the New World (Eastern Hemisphere) and all forms of government found in the world.  We have been plodding along in our Math lessons with finding missing numbers in subtraction, multiplying by one-digit numbers, multiplying three factors, and learning about three ways to show division.  In Health, we learned about the minerals we need that our bodies need to be healthy in specific food items through the nutrition fact labels. English has been full of writing our final chapter of Esperanza Rising, Write Source (nouns, pronouns, adjectives and adverbs), literary devices (idioms, exaggeration, metaphors, similes, and personification) Spelling and Vocabulary.

Coming up next week: Fall Goal Planning Conferences begin Tuesday, October 20th and end on Thursday. Sign up for a conference in the office.  Scholastic books sales is coming up next week; please donate from the library or online a book for our very own class library!!!  For the Carnival next Friday night, we still need supervisors for our two bounce houses of 30-minute time slots from set up (5:30 pm) to clean up (8:30 pm). The sign-up sheet is posted next to the class door.

Operation Christmas Child Kick-off has been moved to the following week, October 26.  If you are interested in decorating the glass display in the hallway with two examples of a boy and a girl box, please email me.  These examples will be a great way to encourage others to get in the spirit of sharing the gift of the Goodnews of Jesus to the lost.

Field Trip to Mount Saint Helen’s is on October 30th.  We have all our chaperones.  However, if you would still like to attend, you are welcome but will need to get your background checked and pay the admission fee of $8.  We will go on a 2 ½ mile hike, so bring some comfortable running shoes and water.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOU DO!!!
Have a blessed week, Ms. Chang
