Chang’s Newsletter—April 27th

Hello Parents/Guardians,

Taking it in stride, we will daily write in class a piece of the Science fair project, which will be due the following day for a writing grade (rough draft only).  For further guidance, refer to the packets (2015 CCA S.F.P. and Information/Supplement) sent/emailed last week.  Also, the poetry projects were wonderful!  Each student chose a page from his/her poetry book to write and illustrate in our class book.  If you are interested in purchasing this book, please fill out the form (attached) and pay the fee by Wednesday. Lastly, we began reading the novel and listening to the audiobook of Rascal by Sterling North.

Chang’s Future Leaders: Newsletter April 20

Terra Nova Achievement Testing  (April 20-24): BRING #2 sharpened pencils and erasers.  Make sure to have a good breakfast and sleep well!

Counting Down! There are only two weeks left before we have our science fair projects completed and turned in for presentations.  I have included a packet to help you in the process.  This project is a great way to use our grammar, spelling, vocabulary, language arts, Math, and Science skills. I am seeing some great work!  Make sure to show me what you have completed, thus, far.

Parent Teacher Conferences: From April 22-24, these are half days.  I am looking forward to meeting with you!

Reading & Book Fair (April 20-24):  We went to the book fair today and some purchased books.  The students made their wish lists.  They are excited about reading!  That makes me thrilled, too!  Reading daily allows us to incorporate grammar, writing, spelling, vocabulary, and language arts all-in-one.  So, keep it up!

Homework:  Due to Terra Nova testing, there will be no homework, except for reading 20 minutes a day. :)

                           

Poetry:  We finished our poetry books last week and began binding them.  Presentations begin tomorrow.  To enjoy the sharing of our poems, the students are welcome to bring treats to share with the class.

Chang’s Future Leaders: Newsletter April 13

Creation Day!  Welcome back.  We hope you all had a blessed Spring Break and enjoyed the Day of Our Risen Lord! Also, we are planting the garden out front.  Please help contribute by bringing perennial or annual bulbs to plant, gardening gloves, and gardening hand tools.

Counting Down! There are only two weeks left before we have our science fair projects completed and turned in for presentations.  I hope that your experiments are going well.  Remember, this project should be fun while we learn the process of writing, collecting data, graphing, and displaying

What we are learning…
History Get ready for a new unit (3) on “Europe: Birthplace of Western Civilization.”  We are beginning with “Ancient Greece: Home of Beauty.”  As you prepare for the next history test, make sure that you are making connections to the text so you can recall it for the test!

Science We are continuing on with the chapter on” Biomes.”  Make sure to follow the due date sheet.  By April 30^th, your project should be about complete since we start presentations on May 1^st. 

Poetry The last poem—“Who-What-When-Where-Why” (final draft)—will be due Tuesday.  Self-reflection and critique due Thursday.  The binding of the books with a ribbon for the final draft and with staples for the rough draft will be due next Monday.  Presentations begin on Tuesday of next week.

Reading Continue reading and logging your time daily in your calendars.  They are due tomorrow. 

Spelling Bee Five contestants will be chosen for the spelling bee contest (May 19^th). 

Math test 18 will be Tuesday.

Bible We begin the Lessons 12 for “Gideon Faces Fear.”  Keep studying for the memory verse due Friday.
